Counselling across the Lifespan

Anne has been working as a Psychologist for around 30 years, and enjoys working with clients in different stages of their lives (children, teenagers, adults, and older adults).

Counselling

  • Individual counselling for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Anne works with clients who present with issues such as: anxiety and/or depression, stress (e.g., exams, work), relationships (e.g., peers, partners, family), parenting/co-parenting, grief and loss, education (school, tertiary), concentration and/or memory difficulties, social interactions, self-esteem, work-life balance, transition to retirement, suicidal ideation
  • Anne accepts referrals direct from clients or via medical practitioners
  • Anne is registered as a mental health practitioner. Clients receive partial rebates from Medicare if they have a current Mental Health Care Plan
  • Anne provides documentation (e.g., assessment results, identified symptoms and their severity levels, and/or DSM diagnosis) to general practitioners for ongoing referrals (e.g., paediatricians, psychiatrists)
  • Anne is registered to accept WorkSafe and NDIS (self-managed) referrals
  • Anne provides support for VCE students, e.g., special provision during exams, applications for special consideration.

Supervision

  • Anne is a Board-certified Supervisor (Psychology Board of Australia)
  • Anne provides regular supervision to Provisional Psychologists during their university practicum placements, e.g., placements in primary and secondary schools, community schools, special settings, and university clinics.
  • Anne is a primary supervisor for Psychologists enrolled in registrar program for Endorsement as a Counselling Psychologist
  • Anne is a secondary supervisor for Psychologists enrolled in other Psychology registrar programs.

Programs

  • Anne is an accredited provider of programs that reduce Anxiety: Cool Little Kids (for parents of pre-schoolers), Cool Kids (for children) and Chilled (for teenagers)
  • Psychoeducation and workbooks for participants and their parents.

Therapies

  • Therapy is client focussed and facilitates exploration, insight, and action
  • Therapies include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal processes, and Mindfulness.

Psychological Assessments

  • Inventories/ Questionnaires: Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL, ages 6-18), Youth Self Report (YSR, ages 11-18), Adult Self Report (ASR, 18-59), Older Adult Self Report (OASR, Ages 60 and older). Feedback from results provides information about the client’s symptoms and behaviour, and their adaptive functioning. Anne conveys this information to other professionals (GP letters and referrals to specialists, e.g., clients with ADHD, ASD)
  • Cognitive and learning assessments. Anne is well-practised in administering and interpreting Weschler tests: WPPSI-IV (up to 7 years), WISC-V (6-16), WAIS-IV (16 and above), and WIAT-III. Feedback from results provides information about the client’s strengths and weaknesses across a range of cognitive and academic skills. Anne writes comprehensive reports (e.g., for parents/ teachers of school students, for older students completing VCE, adults attending university, etc.)
  • Memory screening: Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS, 12-89). Feedback provides information about the client’s performance on five indexes: Immediate memory, visuospatial/constructional, attention, language, and delayed memory. Anne conveys this information to other professionals (e.g., letters to GPs, supporting letters for Centrelink, WorkSafe, etc)
  • Risk assessments: Together, Anne and at-risk clients complete The Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) Suicide Status Form-4 (SSF-4). Clients who disclose suicidal ideation complete The Black Dog Institute’s Safety Plan.
